HB 216: Expulsion of Certain Pupils [Position: IN SUPPORT]

This bill provides that no pupil in kindergarten through grade 2 shall be expelled from a public school. The bill also establishes circumstances under which a pupil in kindergarten through grade 2 may be suspended.

 

New Futures supports HB 216, as it prohibits expulsion of children in kindergarten through grade 2. Expulsion of young children from school is detrimental to early childhood development and education.
