COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT CONTRACTOR

Janet recently returned to her native state of New Hampshire after spending nearly six years in Vermont as the Executive Director of the Vermont Association of Area Agencies on Aging (V4A). Janet was a registered lobbyist for V4A, advocating on behalf of older adults with other policy makers and stakeholders to support healthy aging. Prior to this, Janet was the Director of the Servicelink Aging and Disability Resource Centers in Belknap and Carroll Counties.

Janet’s career parallels the growth of New Hampshire’s community-based service system, starting with a commitment to the deinstitutionalization process of Laconia State School. Janet worked to empower individuals who experience disabilities. Along with several self-advocates from across the state, Janet co-founded People First of New Hampshire and was the statewide coordinator for twenty years. In this role, Janet was awarded the One Sky Leadership Award. Janet also supported the efforts of the national organization, Self-Advocates Becoming Empowered (SABE) as a national advisor and volunteer for nearly ten years. Janet holds an associate degree in Occupational Therapy and a bachelor’s & master’s degree in human service administration from Southern NH University.
