LACONIA, NH – This month, several Lakes Region health service providers were honored by New Futures, New Hampshire’s leading health policy and advocacy organization, for their work to support children and families in the Lakes Region and throughout the Granite State.

At its Annual Awards Event, held last week in Concord, New Futures recognized Schelley Rondeau of Central New Hampshire VNA & Hospice, Daisy Pierce of Navigating Recovery, Kelley Gaspa of the Partnership for Public Health, and Erin Pettengill of the Lakes Region Community Services Family Resource Center, for their efforts to expand access to family supports and services.

“Together and separately, these women have impacted the lives of thousands in the Lakes Region and around the entire state,” said Michele Merritt, New Futures’ President and CEO. “They have provided critical supports and services to children and families in need, and have helped to build a network of services that will only grow in the years to come.  Their work embodies New Futures’ mission, and sets an important standard for all of New Hampshire to follow.”

New Futures’ 2019 award recipients include:

Schelley Rondeau, Pediatric Nurse Program Coordinator for the Central New Hampshire VNA & Hospice, was awarded New Futures’ Jennifer Wierwille Norton Advocacy in Action Award.  Throughout the 2019 legislative session, Rondeau worked tirelessly to advocate for the state’s Medicaid Home Visiting programs and inspired others to get involved.  Thanks in part to her efforts, lawmakers voted to expand eligibility for these critical family support programs.

Daisy Pierce, Executive Director of Navigating Recovery, received New Futures’ Health and Wellness Scholarship.  Through her work, Pierce brings passion and dedication to addressing the ongoing addiction epidemic, educating recovery coaches to support patients and hosting trainings to reduce the stigma associated with substance use disorder. The Health and Wellness Scholarship is given to an individual or group who has demonstrated leadership, advocacy and significant service in the direct delivery of needed assistance.

Kelley Gaspa, Assistant Director and Director of Behavioral Health initiatives at the Partnership for Public Health, was awarded New Futures’ Madeline Demuele Behavioral Health Scholarship. Gaspa works each day with local school districts and other community partners to improve the health and wellness of kids in the Winnipesauke region through targeted prevention initiatives. The Behavioral Health Scholarship is given to an individual or group who has demonstrated exemplary service, leadership and advocacy in the areas of substance use prevention, treatment and recovery.

Erin Pettengill, Vice President of the Lakes Region Community Services Family Resource Center, received New Futures’ Kids Count Scholarship. In her role, Pettengill helps the center to support more than 500 families and 1,000 children each year. She is always focused on moving NH’s health and wellness forward, as evidenced by her tireless efforts to amplify family voices and improve civic engagement among the clients she services. The Kids Count Scholarship is awarded to an individual who has demonstrated service, leadership and advocacy to improve the lives of children in the Granite State.
