NEW FUTURES STATEMENT ON THE FEDERAL COURT BLOCK OF MEDICAID EXPANSION WORK REQUIREMENT
CONCORD, N.H. – This afternoon, U.S. District Court Judge James Boasberg issued a ruling blocking New Hampshire’s Medicaid Expansion work and community engagement requirement from going into effect. In response, Michele Merritt, President and CEO of New Futures, released the following statement:
“Without question, Expanded Medicaid is New Hampshire's greatest tool for combating the addiction epidemic and ensuring access to health care coverage for more than 50,000 Granite Staters. Unfortunately, the program's work and community engagement requirement put that coverage at risk for as many as 17,000 of the state’s most vulnerable residents. We are pleased that Judge Boasberg recognized the risks associated with New Hampshire’s work requirement, and took this important step to protect the health coverage of thousands of Granite Staters. Our state will be healthier and stronger because of it.”
