COMMISSION'S REPORT ON LEGALIZING MARIJUANA DOES NOTHING TO ASSUAGE CONCERNS ABOUT NEGATIVE IMPACTS ON YOUTH AND COMMUNITIES
CONCORD, N.H. – This morning, the Commission to Study the Legalization, Regulation, and Taxation of Marijuana released its final report on marijuana legalization. In response, Kate Frey, Vice President of Advocacy at New Futures, released the following statement:
“We are grateful to the legislators and other Commission members who did their due diligence and heard from many credible sources in their research to create this report,” Frey said. “However, at the end of the day, the report clearly outlines specific recommendations for legalizing and commercializing marijuana without including strategies to address the harm that legalization will bring to our young people and communities. The risks of legalizing this harmful substance and making it more available to our young people were identified by several presenters, reports, and studies, and so, New Futures will continue to oppose the legalization and commercialization of marijuana."
