New Futures Expands Board for 2017 – Officially Welcomes Champions From Law Enforcement and Treatment Sectors

Concord, NH – New Futures, a substance use disorder advocacy organization, will be entering 2017 with four new board members – Chief Justice of the New Hampshire Superior Court Tina L. Nadeau, President and CEO of Easter Seals New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine Mr. Larry Gammon, retired Family Medicine Doctor Rob Kiefner and the Prevention, Enforcement, and Treatment Coordinator for the Laconia Police Department Officer Eric Adams.

“These four individuals have made significant contributions to the fields of prevention, treatment and recovery and in turn, have helped so many in New Hampshire,” said Executive Director Linda Saunders Paquette. “New Futures looks forward to the tremendous contributions their presence on the board will bring for substance misuse policy in New Hampshire. I know I speak on behalf of the New Futures staff and all of our advocates when I say it is an honor to have these four individuals serve as members of the New Futures board.”

Larry Gammon - Mr. Gammon began his career with Easter Seals in 1971, when he joined the staff of Easter Seals NH as its facilities director. He held various positions within the Agency prior to being named its president in 1985. As President & CEO of Easter Seals New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, and Rhode Island, Mr. Gammon oversees the programs and services offered throughout these states for individuals with disabilities and special needs. Rob Kiefner, MD - Dr. Kiefner recently retired from the practice of Family Medicine in Concord after a career spanning over 30 years. He has served on the medical staffs of Concord Hospital and New Hampshire Hospital. He was involved in the teaching of 1st and 2nd year medical students as an Associate Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. Dr. Kiefner retired from the US Naval Reserve, Medical Corps, with the rank of Commander. He is Board Certified in Family Medicine and completed a year-long course of study in Clinical Acupuncture at the Harvard Medical School in 2015. Click here to read more about Dr. Kiefner.

Officer Eric Adams - Eric Adams is a police officer with the City of Laconia. Eric started his career in Law Enforcement in 2000. In 2005 Eric was assigned to the NH Attorney Generals Drug Task Force as an undercover narcotics detective. In 2011, Eric returned back to the Tilton Police Department. In 2012, Eric was hired by the Laconia Police Department to work in the Patrol Division. In October 2014, Eric was re-assigned as the Prevention, Enforcement, and Treatment Coordinator where he currently holds this position. In this role, Eric works directly with individuals and their families that are suffering from a substance use disorder, as a support network and helping to navigate barriers they are presented with. Tina L. Nadeau - Chief Justice of the New Hampshire Superior Court Tina Nadeau, was appointed as an Associate Justice to the New Hampshire Superior Court in 1996. Prior to being appointed to the bench, Nadeau served as legal counsel to former Governor Steve Merrill from 1992 through 1996. She began her legal career in 1989 as an assistant attorney general in the homicide division. In 2013, Justice Nadeau received the Caroline Gross Fellowship Award to attend the Kennedy School of Government program on Executive Leadership; the 2013 Eric Cogswell Achievement award, recognizing commitment to addressing the over incarceration of offenders with mental illness; and, she was the 2013 recipient of the Marillia Ricker Award, presented by the NH Bar to Women in Leadership positions.
