New Futures Welcomes New Board Members

CONCORD, N.H. – New Futures announced today the recent appointment of five new board members: Gary Lavoie, Ashley Hurteau, Jim Doremus, Borja Alvarez de Toledo, and Elin Treanor. The board provides leadership and support to the policy and advocacy organization in efforts to further advance the organization’s mission, promoting the health and wellness of all Granite Staters.

“The vast experience and skill of our new board members will undoubtedly help New Futures bring about lasting policy change for this state,” said Michele Merritt, Senior Vice President. “We are particularly excited to welcome these board members, each of whom bring in-depth experience and expertise in all of our priority issue areas: substance use, early childhood, and general health policy.”

Gary Lavoie is the Vice President at Unity Surveillance & Investigations and was elected treasurer of the New Futures board. He is a successful executive level operations professional, specializing in corporate culture and strategic planning. Gary lives in Concord in a full house of six.

Ashley Hurteau is a Regional Access Point Specialist for Granite Pathways. She is a person in long term recovery from substance use disorder, whose passion for advocacy has led to positive, lasting change in the Granite State. Ashley lives in Somersworth with her son Brody.

Jim Doremus is the Chief Executive Officer for the Concord Family YMCA. Jim has worked for the nonprofit, social services sector in the greater Concord area for the past 33 years, including leadership roles with the Friends Program and White Birch Community Center. He resides in Henniker with his wife Susan Murray and son Jackson.

Borja Alvarez de Toledo, M.Ed. is the President and CEO of Child and Family Services of New Hampshire (CFS). He is responsible for advancing the public profile and advocacy efforts of CFS by developing innovative approaches and building productive relationships with government, regional and national constituencies. Borja lives in Newburyport with his wife Jill, where they raised two boys who are now in college.

Elin Treanor is Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Easterseals New Hampshire. She has extensive financial management and teamwork experience and is dedicated to the mission of Easterseals. Elin is also the winner of NH Business Review’s 2014 Financial Executive of the Year. She lives in Concord, NH with Pippin, her small but mighty Maltese.
