As you may know, New Futures provides a weekly Monday update highlighting key hearings, upcoming votes, and opportunities for civic engagement that align with our 2026 Policy Priorities.

This session promises to be particularly active, with legislators filing over 1,100 Legislative Service Requests (LSRs). While some of these requests still await formal bill numbers, several numbered bills are already scheduled for hearings next week.
But before hearings begin next week, the House of Representatives will meet this Wednesday and Thursday, January 7th and 8th, and the Senate will meet on Wednesday, January 7th, to vote on retained bills from 2025. Keep reading to get reacquainted with the retained bills from 2025.
