This Week at the State House: Week of May 12, 2025

Last week, residents from across New Hampshire gathered at the State House to make their voices heard during the Senate budget hearing. Following the House's proposed budget cuts to critical programs and services, Granite Staters stepped forward to share their concerns and advocate for the Senate to protect Medicaid, mental health supports, child care, substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery programming, and more. The hearing went on for nearly 12 hours, with hundreds of Granite Staters testifying.

Last Friday morning, the Senate Finance Committee got to work and immediately voted to pass an amendment that eliminates the 3% cut to Medicaid reimbursement rates and restores funding for the Community Mental Health Program. The Senate Finance Committee will continue to meet throughout this week to review and make changes to its budget proposal.

As the state budget gets closer to its final stages of the process, New Futures’ priority bills continue to make their way through the New Hampshire Legislature. Check out below to learn which bills have upcoming actions and read our recap of last week!
