Upcoming Hearings and Votes (Week of 2/19/24)
Welcome back to another edition of our weekly Upcoming Hearings and Votes series!
While there are no public hearings on New Futures priority bills this week, there are upcoming votes and actions to take! There's also a recap of last week below.
Upcoming Executive Sessions
After originally voting to send a bill aiming to better regulate alcohol advertising to interim study, the Senate Commerce Committee has instead decided to revisit their recommendation on SB 335. Email the Committee to urge them to pass SB 335!
Upcoming Votes: House of Representatives
The House of Representatives is expected to vote this week on HB 1473, the bill that would ban social-emotional learning in schools. Last week, the House Education Committee voted on an Inexpedient to Legislate recommendation, 19-1.
Recapping Last Week
Votes: Senate
On Thursday, the Senate voted to pass two New Futures priority bills:
- SB 404, which gives child care workers automatic access to the New Hampshire Child Care Scholarship program
- SB 499, which aims to reduce hunger for children, older adults, and people with disabilities in New Hampshire
Both bills will now head to the Senate Finance Committee for review.
Hearings:
Public hearings were held last week on a bill looking to limit MTSS-B programming in schools and a bill that would help child care centers meet the needs of all children.
There are still opportunities to take action on these bills:
- Email Senate Education to urge them to better support the needs of child care centers
Thank you for your efforts in working to improve the health and well-being of Granite Staters!
