Families & Addiction

This introductory workshop by the NH Dept. of Health and Human Services Bureau of Drug & Alcohol Services explores how the addiction of the individual affects the entire family system. Special attention will be paid to the effects on children in the family and discussion will center on strategies and resources to help increase their resiliency and coping skills.

Learning objectives:

  • Describe the effects of addiction on the family.
  • Recognize roles within a family with addiction.
  • Identify strengths and needs associated with particular behavioral patterns of children in families with addiction.
  • Make appropriate interventions and referrals to community-based resources.

Participants are strongly encourages to attend the "Initial Training on Addiction & Recovery" prior to taking the Families & Addiction workshop.


The training takes place from 8:30am-Noon.

Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, Certified Prevention Specialist and Social Work CEU's are included at no cost.
